How Drew's Cruisers™ Work
When a baby is diagnosed with infantile cancer, the oncologist makes a decision to either place a central line catheter or portacath so that there is continuous access to administer the required medications needed during treatment. Both options are placed surgically in an operating room. Both options require continuous care and monitoring and can often times cause increased worry and stress for the parents or care takers.
After surgery, parents are provided post care information which can feel so overwhelming on top of all the stress they're already carrying with their new cancer diagnosis.
Drew's Cruisers™ are adapted onesies that provide comfort, dignity and function, allowing the baby to be in a normal soft and comfortable baby onesie while wrapping the central line ports and IV tubing down and around the baby's side, feeding through snaps, then tucked safely in a pocket on the back of the Drew's Cruisers™. Medical lines are out of site and out of mind for that busy, playful curious baby.
Parents and caregivers can rest a little easier not having to worry or stress having our Drew's Cruiser™ adapted onesie to get them through long and tedious treatment days when often times these families end up with long hospital admissions for the intense chemotherapy they are given.
Without Drew's Cruisers™, babies and toddlers tend to grab a hold of their medical tubing to play, pull, bite and potentially dislodge them causing delays in treatment. With Drew's Cruisers™, medical tubing is safely tucked around the infants back, keeping it more out of reach and out of mind and providing freedom for that little one to sit, scoot, crawl and eventually walk more comfortably.
Our Drew's Cruisers™ adapted onesies provide function, dignity and comfort for the tiniest patients which helps to promote normal growth and development as much as possible while undergoing medical therapies.
